Our silent bid auction last year was a success and special thanks to all who participated. The final update from the license plate committee: 72 bids received for early license plate numbers. Not everyone received the number that they asked for, but everyone ended up with a plate number that satisfied them. We were lucky to have a few extra numbers. Bids ran from the minimum $25 to several bids for $500. The gross income from the auction totaled over $7500.

Now that the plates are on sale to the public, we will receive more than $40 of the $50 fee for each one. The income won’t make us rich, and there are expenses associated with promoting the plates, but it is a nice bit of revenue to use for our work at the park.

The easily recognized plate will provide greater visibility for the park statewide and identify you as a "Friend of Hunting Island." Having this beautiful license plate displayed on your vehicle is just one more way to show you care about preserving and enhancing Hunting Island State Park for future generations.

The $50 fee is an addition to your regular SC plate and tag fees.

It is not necessary to wait until your old plate comes due for renewal. You can purchase the Hunting Island license plate today and DMV will pro-rate your cost. Proceeds come directly to Friends of Hunting Island for our on-going projects at the Park.
